Important Information Regarding Shotgun Licences
Important Information Regarding Shotgun Licences
Following a letter distributed by the club, I recently submitted a shotgun licence renewal 18 months early as Guy had just completed a renewal form.
I received a call from West Mercia Firearms Licensing Office Malvern the day after posting the form, to answer a couple of medical questions. Once those were out of the way, I commented that the application was early, as recommended by the letter from Stephen Millington. This confused the caller, as he had not noticed the expiry date of my current licence. Once he realised that I still had 18 months left, he said he would return my application and cheque as it was far to early.
His recommendation was to check the WM Police web site and apply based on their Waiting Times. A link to their site is Here
The offices plan is to start writing to licence holders early and offer a discounted rate, if you apply early. But you must wait until you receive a letter. If they are on target, they won't be offering a discount.
I hope this information is useful and will save you wasted effort in applying early.

1) Changes to Calculation of Trophy Shoot Final Scores
A change to how the final scoring of Trophy Shoot results are calculated was proposed, seconded and finalised.
This will be implemented with immediate effect for all future trophy shoots. Now, only a percentage of the members handicap will be will be taken into consideration to calculate the final scoring total. This will ensure all members have an even chance of wining the trophy.
Here is an example of how this will work.
If the 'Down The Line Trophy' is a 20 bird (one third) competition as part of a 60 bird Sunday shoot. Only one third of the members handicap will be applied to the score. Therefore, if you have a handicap of 15, only 5 (one third) will be added to the score.
When members shoot as 'Pairs', their handicaps will be added together, the the percentage rule will be applied.
2) Guests at Club Shoots.
The club welcomes guests of all levels to join the Sunday club shoot.
Members, please bear in mind that your guests who do not hold their own shotgun licence can only shoot when the land owner is present and with his permission. Therefore, please have the courtesy to speak to Howard prior to the shoot to ensure your guest will not be disappointed.
3) Members Details on the Website.
The committee agreed that any information members are willing to disclose on the 'Members Contact Details' page would be of great benefit in the case of any emergency. Be it a name and contact number of a spouse or relation who could be called, or any regular medication that is taken, should god forbid, the emergency services be involved (this is always one of their first questions).
These details are also useful should you wish to contact another member.
Of course we respect your decision should you want to keep your personal information private.
If you are happy to include your details, please email them to paultomlinsonesq@gmail.com
